Singer, songwriter & actress Mel C reveals her ambition to compete in her age group for Team GB, addresses her comments on Strictly and reveals her go-to dish for her daughter in an exclusive interview with BUILD.

Speaking to Matt Bagwell at HuffPost UK for a live BUILD interview, Mel C says:

On her plans to compete in triathlons for team GB:

"There is a ridiculous notion of trying to get quick enough to compete in my age group for team GB."

"I’ve got so much work to do, I really shouldn’t put that out there. One of the main reasons I want to do it is because I want a try suit with CISM GBR on it."

"I started doing triathlons in 2011. This year I had a really good year, I’ve done three and I got my PB in London."

"I am sportier these days, I never used to be that much really. My new Spice name would be Sportier Spice!"

Addresses her feelings about Strictly Come Dancing:

"I think sometimes something like Strictly can make you very high profile in a way I wouldn’t want to be."

"[I’ve turned it down] for a number of reasons. I think it’s brilliant family entertainment. Something was taken out of context that I said recently and I was a little bit embarrassed about that because I was just trying to be funny. But it’s very demanding on your time and it’s very high profile."

On young artists being overly sexualised in the media:

"In my experience, I wore tracksuits. I never felt that us girls as Spice Girls were never put under any pressure to be sexy."

"My question is why do young girls want to be portrayed in that way? There just seems to be a trend of young people being oversexualised extremely young."

Her favourite Spice Girls memory? Nicking a Filofax at the 1997 MTV Music Awards:

"It was at the MTV Music Awards in Rotterdam, it must have been in 1997, it was in the crazy crazy days. We’d decided to leave our management and we were absolutely terrified. At the time there were no iPhones, it was Filofaxes. Our PA had a very nice one, and we nicked it for all the contacts."

"Geri, in true Geri style, [hid it] in her bag. We went up for our soundcheck in rehearsals at the MTV Music Awards and Gerri did the whole thing with this bag. We couldn’t let go of it because it had that Filofax in it."

Her views on the healthy lifestyle movement and the signature dish her daughter loves:

"I’m loving the whole movement towards healthy lifestyle whether it be with food and exercise."

"Some people are a bit annoying on Instagram, but generally I think it’s really good. I make this lentil casserole that my little girl loves. It’s really simple, it’s kind of a leftover thing, just get all of your veggies out of the fridge with a bit of stock."
