Iconic punk pioneers Ruts DC have announced an extensive UK tour for 2027 to mark 50 years since their formation in 1977. Billed as 50 Years of Ruts Music, the tour will celebrate the band's creative evolution across five decades, bridging their foundational work as The Ruts with their ongoing output as Ruts DC.
The 20-date anniversary tour spans two legs in April and October 2027, taking in major venues across England, Scotland, and Wales. The shows will draw material from across their entire discography, encompassing early seminal albums such as The Crack and Grin & Bear It, through to Animal Now, Rhythm Collision, Music Must Destroy, and their recent release Counterculture?.
Original members Segs Jennings and Dave Ruffy will lead the lineup alongside guitarist Leigh Heggarty, who has been a core member of Ruts DC for the past 14 years. The band emphasized that the tour is neither a reunion nor a nostalgia act, but rather a direct continuation of their creative output played with the same urgency, attitude, and punk energy that defined their original emergence.
Speaking on the upcoming shows, the band underscored their intention to honor the legacy of their music while performing it squarely in the present tense, celebrating five decades of resilience, friendship, and sonic evolution.
The spring leg begins on 7 April 2027 at the Nottingham Metronome, hitting historic venues including Liverpool's The Cavern, Manchester's Band on the Wall, and the Glasgow Garage. The autumn leg kicks off on 14 October 2027 at The Globe in Cardiff, concluding with major dates at London's 229, Brighton Chalk, and the Norwich Adrian Flux Waterfront.
The tour stands as a testament to one of British punk and dub's most enduring outfits, whose blend of reggae rhythms, heavy basslines, and fiery rock guitars continues to influence generations of musicians.
