Sex Pistols feat Frank Carter have announced additional UK tour dates for December as part of their Anarchy In The UK tour, marking 50 years since the birth of punk. Original members Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock will hit the road alongside frontman Frank Carter for six newly added winter performances across the country.
The newly added dates will see the group perform at Leeds O2 Academy on 4th December, Newcastle NX on 5th December, Liverpool Olympia on 12th December, Birmingham O2 Academy on 14th December, Portsmouth Guildhall on 15th December, and Bristol Prospect Building on 16th December. These shows join previously scheduled arena and club appearances in Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and two major London dates at Brixton Academy and Eventim Apollo.
The tour celebrates 50 years since the release of 'Anarchy In The UK' in November 1977, a track that altered the trajectory of modern music. Reflectoring on the track's enduring legacy, drummer Paul Cook noted that the anthem captured a widespread sense of societal unrest, encouraging people to take action and forge their own paths.
Guitarist Steve Jones expressed excitement about returning to the stage with the classic repertoire, praising Carter’s high-energy stage presence and highlighting the strong connection between the band and their audience half a century after the songs were first written.
The year 1976 served as punk’s initial breakthrough, driven by the Sex Pistols' legendary early shows at London venues such as The Marquee and The 100 Club. Their influential performance at Manchester’s Lesser Free Trade Hall famously inspired members of Joy Division, The Smiths, and Buzzcocks to form their own groups, solidifying a cultural movement before the band signed with EMI and released their seminal debut single.
Tickets for the newly announced dates go on general sale at 10am on Friday 4th September via standard ticketing outlets.
