Violet Grohl has announced more good news for UK fans ahead of her debut run of shows in the country. Driven by overwhelming demand, her upcoming August 25th performance in Manchester has been upgraded to Band on the Wall. Organisers have confirmed that all tickets originally purchased for the initial venue, The Deaf Institute, will remain fully valid at the new, larger location. In addition to the venue upgrade, the singer-songwriter has added a brand-new Brighton show scheduled for October 8th at Chalk, with tickets for both of these updated dates on sale immediately.
The expansion follows exceptional ticket sales across the rest of the tour, with dates in London, Liverpool, and Bristol completely selling out. The live run celebrates her highly anticipated debut album, Be Sweet To Me, which was released in May via Aurora Records and Republic Records. The acclaimed record was recorded at the Los Angeles home studio of producer Justin Raisen, known for his work with Kim Gordon and Charli xcx. For the recording sessions, Raisen assembled a select group of musicians in the collaborative spirit of the legendary 1960s and 1970s Wrecking Crew session players.
The sonic identity of the record draws heavy influence from the alternative rock sounds of the late 1980s and early 1990s, channelling the energy of iconic acts such as the Pixies, Soundgarden, Cocteau Twins, The Breeders, and PJ Harvey.
Elements of bands like The Muffs, Björk, Alice in Chains, L7, and Juliana Hatfield also weave through the tracklist. Grohl notes that she has immersed herself in this particular musical era since her childhood, an upbringing that heavily shaped the eclectic alternative blend evident across her recent hit singles, including THUM, 595, Cool Buzz, and Bug in the Cake.
Following the upgraded Manchester show, the comprehensive UK itinerary will see her perform at Glasgow’s King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Leeds Festival, Reading Festival, and a residency at London's Barfly Camden, before concluding in October with stops in Liverpool, Bristol, and Brighton.
