Canadian roots, rock, and soul collective Bywater Call have officially dropped their haunting new single "Is This Thing On?". Released today, the track serves as the final preview of the band's highly anticipated fourth studio album, Broken Souvenirs, which is scheduled to arrive on July 29, 2026. The new record will feature this latest release alongside previously acclaimed tracks such as "No One Else", "Only", and "Hold Me Down".

Stepping away from their driving, brass-heavy anthems, "Is This Thing On?" offers a deeply intimate listening experience. The single blends Americana, folk, and blues influences into a minimalist arrangement built around sweeping strings and beautiful acoustic guitar work. At the centre of the track is a raw, magnetic vocal performance from frontwoman Meghan Parnell, exploring the quiet vulnerability and fear that comes with sending deeply personal art out into the world.

The emotional weight of the song gives the storytelling room to breathe, inviting listeners into its rich atmospheric landscape. Drawing inspiration from artists like Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell, the track has already become a firm favourite during live shows, frequently inspiring spontaneous call-and-response moments with audiences. The single was recorded at Palace Studios in Toronto, perfectly capturing the band's evolving musical maturity.

This expansive approach defines the forthcoming 11-track collection Broken Souvenirs. The album captures the seven-piece band at their most adventurous, effortlessly shifting from feel-good retro soul to contemporary R&B. By blending timeless influences with fresh, modern experimentation, Bywater Call continues to carve out an entirely unique sonic space within the modern roots landscape.

Alongside the new music, the group continues to expand their live footprint. Due to overwhelming popular demand, they have officially added two new dates to their upcoming early 2027 United Kingdom tour. The newly announced shows will see the band performing at The Stables in Milton Keynes on February 1 and Anarchy Brew in Newcastle on February 7. Tickets for the expansive winter tour are available now.
