Coventry's own indie rock heroes, The Enemy, have officially announced a monumental homecoming concert to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal debut album. The special headline event will take place at the indoor arena within the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday 20 March 2027. The announcement follows a spectacular performance yesterday, where the trio headlined Coventry City’s massive promotion celebration in front of 50,000 ecstatic fans at War Memorial Park.
The upcoming arena show marks the band's largest local headline performance since they famously sold out the same 10,000-capacity venue, then known as the Ricoh Arena, back in 2008. The milestone event is designed to commemorate two decades of their Platinum-certified, number-one debut album, We’ll Live And Die In These Towns. Released to critical and commercial acclaim, the record fundamentally altered the trajectory of the band's career, spawning timeless UK Top 10 indie anthems like "Away From Here" and "Had Enough."
Frontman and guitarist Tom Clarke expressed immense excitement regarding the upcoming March show, noting that the added buzz surrounding Coventry City Football Club's recent successes will make the arena atmosphere even more emotionally charged for fans and band members alike. The milestone record originally paved the way for the band to achieve two subsequent Top 10 albums, high-profile festival slots at Glastonbury, Reading, and Leeds, and tour support invitations from rock legends Oasis and The Rolling Stones.
Comprised of its original line-up featuring Clarke, bassist Andy Hopkins, and drummer Liam Watts, the band entered a triumphant new era following an official reunion in 2022. The return was solidified by the release of Social Disguises, their first new studio album in over a decade. The band will continue a busy touring schedule leading up to the 2027 anniversary show, including a performance at Coventry’s HMV Empire, major summer festival slots at Tramlines and Victorious, and a winter arena tour acting as special guests to Ocean Colour Scene. Tickets go on sale Friday via official outlets.
