Iconic rock legends Deep Purple have officially announced the release of their highly anticipated new studio album, titled SPLAT!. Set for global release on July 3, 2026, via earMUSIC, the album marks a powerful continuation of the band's legendary legacy, which has seen over 120 million albums sold worldwide since their formation in 1968.
Pre-orders for the album begin today, offering fans a first glimpse into what frontman Ian Gillan describes as one of the band's heaviest offerings in decades.
For SPLAT!, Deep Purple once again joined forces with renowned producer Bob Ezrin (known for his seminal work with Pink Floyd, KISS, and Alice Cooper). Recorded live in the studio, the album aims to capture the raw energy and dynamic interplay that defined the band's early career.
Ian Gillan expressed his enthusiasm for the new material, stating, “Where we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies.” He added that the new music is compatible with the dynamics and fun of their classics from 1969 to 1973, such as ‘Highway Star’ and ‘Smoke on the Water’.
SPLAT! is centered around a unique philosophical idea conceived by Gillan. The album explores the end of humanity not as a grim apocalypse, but as a metamorphosis—a transformation beyond physical existence. The band teases that this concept will be revealed further in the weeks leading up to the July release.
To celebrate the new music, Deep Purple is continuing their extensive 2026 touring schedule. The itinerary includes no fewer than 86 shows across 28 countries on three continents. Buy tickets below.
The album will be available in multiple formats to suit every collector. Beyond standard CD and digital, options include gatefold 2LP black vinyl, limited purple vinyl, and limited transparent yellow vinyl. A deluxe limited Box Set will also be released, featuring the 2LP gatefold, a CD, three exclusive 10-inch records of live recordings from their 2024 tour, and an exclusive 7-inch single with the bonus track “GUINNESIS”.
