The Mediterranean is about to get a whole lot brighter. MTV has officially announced that global pop powerhouse Katy Perry will headline Isle of MTV Malta 2026, marking her first-ever performance on the islands. The superstar will take the stage at the historic Il Fosos Square on Wednesday 22 July, anchoring what remains Europe’s largest free summer festival.
As one of the best-selling artists of all time, Perry arrives in Malta with an era-defining catalog that boasts more than 115 billion streams and 70 million albums sold worldwide. From her 2008 breakthrough One of the Boys to her latest record 143, Perry has remained a singular force in pop. Fans can expect a high-octane setlist featuring global anthems like "Firework," "Roar," "Dark Horse," and "California Gurls."
“I’m so excited to be heading to Malta for the very first time to headline Isle of MTV!” Perry shared in the official announcement. Her debut at the festival promises to combine her trademark bold visuals and unmistakable energy with the electrifying atmosphere of the open-air venue.
The event, held in partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority, is a cornerstone of the global music calendar. Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Ian Borg noted that Perry’s involvement reflects a commitment to “elevate Malta’s global profile” and deliver world-class experiences to residents and visitors alike. Carlo Micallef, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, added that hosting such an icon strengthens Malta's position as a “leading Mediterranean destination.”
The festival serves as the kickoff for Isle of MTV Malta Music Week, a five-day series of club nights and events running from 22–26 July across the island’s most popular hotspots. While Katy Perry is the first major reveal, additional performers for the 2026 lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.
For those unable to make the trip, the show will be broadcast across MTV’s international network in September 2026. Registration for free tickets will be available via isleofmtv.com in due course.
