Indie rock titans and eight-time GRAMMY nominees Death Cab for Cutie have officially announced their 11th studio album, I Built You A Tower, set for release on June 5th. Marking a significant creative shift, the album serves as the band’s first release on ANTI- Records, signaling a return to their independent roots after two decades on a major label.
Coinciding with the announcement, the band has unveiled their propulsive new single, “Riptides.” Frontman Benjamin Gibbard describes the track as an exploration of "personal struggles as the world around us experiences tragedy and loss on an unfathomable scale."
UK & European Tour: Presale Access
In support of the new record, Death Cab for Cutie has announced a comprehensive autumn tour across the UK and Europe this September. Following the massive success of their recent Transatlanticism and Plans 20th-anniversary tours, these shows promise a lean, visceral energy reflective of the new album's "deeply human" sound.

A Raw Reconstruction
Recorded in just three weeks with producer John Congleton, I Built You A Tower captures a band reclaiming their core ethos. The "tower" of the title refers to a mental fortress Gibbard built to navigate professional triumphs and personal collapse. “The anniversary tours exorcised any nostalgia in our systems,” observes multi-instrumentalist Dave Depper. “We went into the studio with a sense of, how can we capture that feeling and put it into something new?”
The result is an 11-track collection that eschews "airbrushed" perfection for the raw interplay of five musicians in a room—a reclamation of the grit that defined their earliest work.
