David Gray has announced the release of Nightjar, a significant companion album to his 2005 landmark record Life in Slow Motion. Set for release on March 27, 2026, the album features 19 previously unheard songs from one of the most prolific and creatively intense periods of Gray’s career. The news arrives as Gray prepares to take these new stories on the road for the summer leg of his Past & Present World Tour.

The upcoming tour serves as a live celebration of Gray’s recent successes and his storied history. Following a sold-out run of 68 shows across 2025, the 2026 dates will see Gray performing at major venues and festivals throughout the UK and Ireland. The itinerary begins in London with two nights at the Hampton Court Palace Festival on June 10 and 11, followed by massive Irish dates including a two-night stint at Cork’s Live at the Marquee and a headline show at Dublin’s Fairview Park on June 17, buy tickets below.

Fans in the north can catch the tour at the SSE Arena in Belfast on June 16, while festival appearances include the Isle of Wight on June 21 and Latitude on July 26. Several dates have already sold out, including Douglas, Watford, and Northampton, reflecting the enduring connection Gray maintains with his audience. Many of these shows will feature the orchestral pop of The Divine Comedy as special guests, adding a cinematic layer to the summer outdoor performances.

The live set is expected to draw from Nightjar, which Gray describes as a "raw and unpolished" document of his time at The Church Studios in Crouch End. These songs were captured during a period of deep personal upheaval and professional reset following the global phenomenon of White Ladder. By integrating this "lost" material into his 2026 live shows at venues like Cardiff Castle and Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Gray offers fans a more detailed look into the emotional landscape behind his most vital work.
