Pacific Northwest singer-songwriter Alec Duckart, better known as Searows, has released his latest single, ‘In Violet’. The track serves as the final preview of his highly anticipated second album, Death in the Business of Whaling, which arrives this Friday, 23 January 2026, via Last Recordings On Earth.

Fresh from a premiere on BBC Radio 1, ‘In Violet’ showcases Duckart’s evolution from bedroom-pop beginnings to a more expansive, cinematic folk sound. Recorded in a converted horse barn near Seattle with co-producer Trevor Spencer (known for his work with Father John Misty and Beach House), the new material swaps "bedroom hushedness" for a sense of folklore and scale.

UK and Ireland Headline Dates

Following the album's release, Searows will embark on an extensive international tour. Before heading to North America for a 28-date run, Duckart will bring his "timeless indie-folk" to the UK and Ireland for a series of headline shows this April.

The UK leg follows a meteoric rise for the artist, who gained a passionate following on TikTok and earned glowing endorsements from contemporaries like Ethel Cain and Gracie Abrams. Fans can catch him at the following venues:

01 April: Brighton – Chalk
02 April: Bristol – Trinity Centre
03 April: Leeds – Irish Centre
05 April: Dublin – Vicar Street
06 April: Glasgow – Saint Luke’s
08 April: Manchester – Academy 2
10 April: London – KOKO

A Visceral New Chapter

Duckart describes ‘In Violet’ as a "fantastical epic" that mirrors the weight of human disappointment. This thematic depth runs throughout the new album, with Searows moving away from literal songwriting toward more symbolic, visceral storytelling. Critics have already hailed the record as a triumph, with MOJO describing it as a "widescreen musical travelogue" and NME calling it a "perfect contemplative folk record."

Tickets for the April tour are on sale now via official outlets. With his London show taking place at the iconic KOKO, this tour marks Searows' most significant UK appearance to date.
