The Fantastic Negrito live experience is widely regarded as one of the most electric spectacles in contemporary music. This January, the three-time Grammy Award winner returns to the UK to bring his unique blend of funk, soul, R&B, and gospel to a series of high-profile headline shows.
The tour is anchored by two prestigious festival appearances. Negrito will headline the January Blues Festival in London for two consecutive nights before traveling north to Glasgow for Celtic Connections, the UK's premier celebration of roots and world music.
"AI Can’t Replace That"
Real name Xavier Dphrepaulezz, the artist describes his live sets as "spiritually charged" experiences that require human connection. "My music takes on a life of its own in a live setting—it becomes interactive, the audience becomes part of it," he explains. "AI can’t replace that. Every show is different, organic, and driven by a real sense of urgency."
His perspective is shaped by a life story as gritty as his sound. After a near-fatal car crash in the late 90s left him in a coma for three weeks, it was years before he returned to music. His resilience paid off with a 2015 win of NPR’s Tiny Desk competition, followed by three consecutive Grammy wins for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Along the way, he has earned the admiration of icons like Mick Jagger, Sting, and the late Chris Cornell.
