It's a landmark day for British music as Olivia Dean has made history, becoming the first solo British female artist since Adele in 2021 to simultaneously claim the UK’s Official Singles and Albums Chart Number 1 spots. Her highly anticipated sophomore album, The Art of Loving, debuted straight at the top, while the hit single “Man I Need” also clinched the number one spot.
The success of The Art of Loving has been nothing short of phenomenal. The album, which features fan favourites “Nice To Each Other” and "So Easy (To Fall In Love),” has secured the biggest opening week for a British female artist since Adele’s last studio release in 2021, according to Official Charts data. Furthermore, "Man I Need" has become the highest-charting song by a UK act on Spotify’s Global Charts this year and continues to climb the Billboard Hot 100.
Speaking on the incredible achievement, Olivia shared her joy: “I feel very grateful and overwhelmed! I love the album I made and I’m so proud of myself for making it. But ultimately it is so joyful seeing how much it means to people and how it’s helping people understand love and loving.”
To meet overwhelming demand following the chart success, Dean has announced two more dates for her massive O2 Arena residency in London on June 11th and 12th. These shows are additions to her biggest-ever UK and EU tour, which kicks off on April 23rd at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro. Her London run now totals six huge nights at The O2, a testament to her soaring popularity.
The tour will showcase tracks from the new chart-topping record alongside songs from her Mercury Prize-nominated debut, Messy. Tickets for the newly added O2 dates go on general sale at 10am BST on Friday, October 10th. With Dean also holding three of the top 10 biggest British singles released in 2025 so far, her status as one of music’s most essential voices is cemented.
