Irish trio Kingfishr are poised to further solidify their meteoric rise with the announcement of their long-awaited debut album, 'Halcyon,' set for release on August 22nd. This highly anticipated news follows an already remarkable journey for the band, which includes a smash hit #1 single with the 4x Platinum-certified 'Killeagh,' two sold-out headline shows at Dublin’s iconic 3Arena, and over 100 million streams globally.
To mark this milestone, Kingfishr has today released their poignant new single, 'Diamonds & Roses.' The track showcases Eddie Keogh's imposing baritone and the band's evocative instrumentation, weaving a narrative of nostalgia, change, and romance. “‘Diamonds & Roses’ is about how much things change,” explains Eddie, adding, “It’s about the death of the status quo and the price we all pay for that.”
'Halcyon' itself is described as an instant "best of," charting Kingfishr's impressive trajectory from early breakthrough favorites like 'Flowers-Fire' and 'Eyes Don’t Lie' to recent hits such as 'Gloria' and 'Man On The Moon.' The album also promises a wealth of new material, including tracks like '21,' 'Next To Me,' and 'Someday,' blending contemporary indie-rock dynamics with the deep soul of their traditional Irish roots.
The band, born on a dairy farm in Tipperary, commented, "'Halcyon' is the culmination of three years’ work... The name 'Halcyon' is a nod to the landscape and heritage that has moulded our music, even though the songs don’t all come from a happy or peaceful place. We’re so proud of all of this. Thank you for being a part of it. On and up!”
In celebration of the album, Kingfishr has also unveiled an extensive UK and European headline tour, culminating in a landmark London show at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on December 3rd. Fans who pre-order 'Halcyon' now will gain access to an exclusive ticket pre-sale opening on Wednesday, May 28th, with general sale following on Friday, May 30th.
With a debut album already feeling like a greatest hits collection and a massive tour on the horizon, Kingfishr are truly just getting started.
