After teasing the track before the holidays, multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Dean Lewis kicks off the new year with the release of his heart wrenching new single ‘Memories’. Co-produced by Dean with Jon Hume, and co-written by the pair, ‘Memories’ was written and produced in Los Angeles and Nashville and is another taste of the global superstars’s forthcoming third studio album (out via Island Records Australia/UMA).
Dean Lewis fans will also be thrilled to hear that the chart-topping artist has been announced as a special guest on British singer James Arthur’s UK and Ireland Arena show run in March.
Emotive, relatable, and heartbreaking, ‘Memories’ is what Dean does best: connects through moving articulate lyrics and tuneful melodies. Dropping a 30 second pre-teaser of the song to his fans on social media, created a frenzy of 26K unique social posts created in only a matter of weeks.
Speaking on the track, Dean said, “At the end of last year, I finished touring and had a small moment to breathe and reflect… & during that time... I wrote ‘Memories’. This song describes the breakdown of my relationship with my closest friend of 3 years. I felt so isolated when I couldn't just pick up the phone and talk to her. I just wanted to hear her voice, but it is also about being thankful and grateful for all the moments you shared.?As a songwriter, I feel like it is one of those songs that come along every couple of years...I felt like the chorus slowed down the world when I listened to it for the first time.”
2023 proved to be another bumper year for Dean. His ‘Future Is Bright’ World Tour 2023 saw him play close to 100 headline shows and music festivals around the globe, including his first headline show in China. His music has accumulated over 2.3 billion streams while his name ended the year on some of the world's top lists. Dean closed the year as #5 on TikTok’s The Hitmakers/Most Viewed Artist and on Spotify - #9 Top AU Artist with Trust Me Mate, #3 and #8 Top AU Tracks of 2023 for ‘How Do I Say Goodbye’ and ‘Be Alright’, respectively.
‘Memories’ arrives just as Dean’s previous single ‘Trust Me Mate’ hits a new peak in the Netherlands, jumping to #40 in their official singles chart, #10 Radio and Top 40 Spotify and #6 Shazam. ‘Trust Me Mate’ has also acheived #26 at Hot AC Radio in the USA, #21 airplay in Belgium, #5 airplay in Switzerland and has tracked over 36 million streams globally since its release.
Dean’s hotly anticipated third studio album is due for worldwide release in 2024. ’Memories’ is the third single lifted from the forthcoming album with singles ‘Trust Me Mate’ and ‘In A Perfect World’ feat. Julia Michaels also included on the LP.
