The Hoosiers new single and live dates
30 June 2023
Your new favourite old band, The Hoosiers – who comprise original members, vocalist Irwin Sparkes and drummer Alan Sharland – are due to release their new single Snowflake on 30 June 2023. The song is about immigration - as all great songs called Snowflake should be – or rather, about how a being of true love, who seeks only to love, could expect to be received in the UK in our present times. “Why don’t you listen to the radio?” sings frontman Irwin Sparkes, before concluding “Too busy talking to be listening.” Naturally, the song’s stark lyrical message is set against the backdrop of the most impossibly-catchy set of hook-laden musical coordinates imaginable – after all, this is the Hoosiers we’re talking about – as if the band have somehow wired themselves into an illegal song-writing machine. The song comes hot on the heels of the Radio 2 support for the band’s most recent single Hello Sunshine.
Irwin Sparkes of the band describes it as “If Brexit was a bop… (and not a catastrophe). How the media and the online echo chambers we’ve created serve to erode our communities and our sense of compassion. How factions adapt their world view until they’re “right”
Snowflake has been lifted from the Hoosiers fantastic new album, Confidence, due for release on September 15, 2023. Both Snowflake and Confidence have been produced by Sam Miller, who mixed the first album, and recorded at Angelic Recording Studios. The album also features Hello Sunshine, as well as songs like the Metronomy/Daft Punk-tinged Making A Monster, and the effortlessly-fabulous murder (non) ballad, Idaho.
The Hoosiers will be supporting the release of Confidence with several appearances at UK festivals over the summer, before embarking on a full UK tour in September and October this year. Tickets for the tour go on sale April 28th, although Koko tickets are available now.
Their fantastic new album, Confidence, will be released on September 15th 2023. Tickets are on sale, and limited edition signed copies of the 12” LP and CD Digipack are exclusively available for pre-order now.
