Last weekend, thousands of music lovers from across the world flocked to the Tuscan seaside in Lido di Camaiore for the first weekend of La Prima Estate. From Friday 16 - Sunday 18 June, the Italian music festival hosted stunning, sun-drenched performances by some of the world’s most in-demand artists and rising Italian stars, as well as a delightful choice of local activities, all culminating in an outstanding festival vacation.
Kicking things off, fans arrived at the stunning site, situated just 50 metres from the sea in Bussola Domani Park, on Friday 16 June and were treated to a headline masterclass of hip-hop by legendary East Coast rapper Nas, whose set included iconic songs “N.Y State of Mind”, “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)” and “The World Is Yours”. Littered with some of hip-hop's most venerated bars of all time, Nas’ set marked the opening night of La Prima Estate in style. Support came from some of the hottest hip-hop acts on the Italian scene, Geolier and Noyz Narcos.
Day two kicked off on Saturday 17 June with Grammy-nominated American indie pop act Japanese Breakfast, who brought their jangly melodies to the Italian coast. Flanked by a five-piece band that included an impressive saxophonist, they provided a moving and charismatic performance for the audience to enjoy. Kings of Convenience followed with plenty of hits from their 23-year-long discography. Accompanied by the setting sun, the band produced a beautiful set to warm up the crowd for the highly anticipated headliner, Bon Iver. As night fell, the hall-of-fame indie band performed a set filled with warped, electronic instruments and stacks of ethereal synths, all accompanied by stunning light show to provide a show to remember for fans in the Tuscan landscape.
On Sunday 18 June Italian producer Dardust delivered his ‘Electronic Set - Left Hemisphere’ - a psychedelic rave-inspired journey accompanied by trippy visuals. Italian singer-songwriter, producer and DJ Elasi then took to the stage which a performance ranging between the worlds of nu jazz, funk and experimental electronica.
The music was just the start for La Prima Estate, which also featured a range of unique experiences in the local area’s stunning Tuscan setting, combining music, local culture, food, art, nature, mindfulness, sports and nightlife.
Lido di Camaiore was transformed into an idyllic village, packed with unique experiences throughout the festival. The beautiful beach hosted morning yoga and surfing lessons, as well as one-of-a-kind experiences with La Prima Estate artists and other personalities from the music world during ‘La Prima Estate TALK’, all just 200 metres from the festival site.
The festival continues next weekend with Alt-J, Chet Faker, Jamiroquai, Just Mustard, Metro Boomin and more, from 23 – 25 June.
