Standon Calling, the ultimate exploration of music and arts for all ages, returns for the 17th year this July with a diverse and star-studded lineup. Whilst the main stage is headlined by Years & Years, Self Esteem, Bloc Party and The Human League, BBC Introducing has announced its biggest partnership with the festival yet. They will return to the festival for the first time since the pandemic to bring the best up-and-coming acts from the surrounding areas to the beloved festival fields next month.

BBC Introducing is a platform that supports unsigned and under-the-radar talent in the UK music landscape. Since launching in 2007, BBC Introducing has helped break some of the UK’s biggest artists - including several who have made for their own memorable moments at Standon through the years, from George Ezra to Florence and the Machine and Loyle Carner. Now in collaboration with Standon Calling 2023, BBC Introducing in the three counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire, as well as London and Essex, has pulled together a remarkable line-up for the festival, featuring Wunderhorse, Finn Foxell, Arthur Hill, Amy Lauren, Connie Campsie and many more!

Rising Three Counties rock band Wunderhorse are leading the charge, and having launched only in 2021, they’ve already gone on to support the likes of Fontaines D.C. and the Pixies on tour. With a second album on the way, their debut record “Cub” was named one of the best albums of 2022 by NME, and in the same eventful year, singer Jacob Slater made his acting debut as Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook in Danny Boyle’s “PISTOL” biopic series. West London rapper Finn Foxell is an experimental artist meshing sounds and styles, as seen in his genre-bending EP “Alright Sunshine,” released in 2021. Following a popular COLORS session, Finn completed a UK tour with FSHG and was named in Wonderland’s “Ones to Watch in 2022.”

All bound for Hertfordshire between 20th - 23rd July, today’s announcement also includes the likes of feel-good melody maker Arthur Hill and Rolling Stone UK's ones to watch for 2023 Connie Campsie, alongside London’s best new acts Eleni Drake, Elodie and Mychelle. While Essex risers include Monster Florence - fresh from supporting Professor Green - and Ruti, known for winning The Voice in 2018 with the one and only Tom Jones’ guidance.

For the first time, BBC Introducing brings a raft of floor-filling DJs to Standon Calling’s famous dance arenas. Leena Punks and Amy Lauren from Essex will be joining the all-female and non-binary bill on Friday at the Electric Willows, as part of Standon Calling’s fully gender-representative bill this year, whilst Saturday on the same stage sees the likes of Pete Tong’s Future Star duo TIBASKO serve up an epic selection breaks and melodic techno, alongside Model Man and KIIMI (DJ). Respected hip hop producer Genesis Elijah also joins the inaugural “FutureFlow” night for UK Rap and grime over at the lively Cowshed stage.

Speaking about today’s new wide-reaching partnership and lineup announcement, BBC Introducing Editor Kelly Betts said: “BBC Introducing aims to push forward a new wave of unsigned and undiscovered music makers. Standon Calling has the same goal, the festival spotlights new talent, giving them a place to perform which is why this collaboration is so exciting. There’s an Introducing radio show broadcasting where you live and three of them have connected to curate a brilliant line-up of fresh new music. Each act was hand-selected by the expert teams at Introducing in London, Introducing in Essex and Introducing in Beds, Herts & Bucks”

Standon Calling’s founding director Alex Trenchard added: “Supporting new artists and celebrating talent from the local areas has always been a big part of what Standon Calling is all about. Having the likes of Tom Grennan, The Japanese House, Connie Constance, The Hunna and Ten Tonnes performing at Standon on our BBC Introducing stages in the past is a testament to the potential you’ll find on these lineups - and it’s always extra special to see acts like this grow so fast and find themselves back at Standon on the main stage - as we saw with Connie last summer. It’s been a few years since we’ve officially partnered with BBC Introducing to spotlight this, and we couldn’t be more excited to see this develop into something even bigger than before, with three fantastic BBC Introducing teams coming together to reach a massive amount of new music fans this summer. Don’t miss your chance to discover the next big stars with us this July!”

Elsewhere this year’s ever-eclectic music lineup includes the lines of Anastacia, Katy B, Dylan, KT Tunstall, Melanie C, Shygirl, Faithless DJ, The Big Moon, Rick Astley, Squid, Confidence Man, We Are Scientists, Bob Vylan, Warmduscher, Scouting For Girls, Bear’s Den, LF System, Groove Armada DJ, High Contrast, D Double E, The Cuban Brothers, Queer House Party and many more.

With its world of immersive and magical moments popping up all over the weekend, it’s no wonder Standon fans keep coming back in growing numbers, with new generations welcomed into the festival family each year. From Sunday’s famous Dog Show to Saturday’s themed Costume Parade, everyone has their favourites. Whether it’s starting the day with dance and yoga classes, submerging in the swimming pool and riverside hot tubs, taking in some stimulating Talks and hilarious Comedy on The Lawn, or diving into some games, crafts and creative workshops fit for all ages, you can also rely on an impressive array of mouth-watering street food and drinks to keep everyone going.
