Father John Misty takes centre stage in a symphonic celebration of Scott Walker's legacy at the Barbican Hall, London on Friday 19 May 2023, 7.30pm.

The BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will perform orchestral arrangements of songs including It's Raining Today, Copenhagen and The Old Man's Back Again, constructed and conducted by BBC SO Creative Artist in Association Jules Buckley.

'I'm an outsider for sure' said Scott Walker. But over a six-decade career he sang songs that redefined popular music, breaking hearts as well as artistic boundaries. Whether recording chart-topping singles or writing for the Royal Opera; from arthouse cinema to collaborations with Pulp and Julian Cope; Walker's songs are a perfect fit for Father John Misty, another legendary singer-songwriter who plays by no rules but his own. A genre-busting salute to the man that David Bowie called 'my idol'.

Songs from the concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music on Thursday 25 May, 9pm, and the concert will be broadcast in full on BBC Radio 3, details to be announced.

Jules Buckley led a BBC Prom dedicated to Scott Walker at the 2017 BBC Proms and a number of those arrangements appear in this concert.

The tickets go on general sale on Friday 14 April, 10am.
