Growing beautifully as something of a best-kept-secret, whilst generating impressive flurries of interest from her committed fans, Rianne Downey will hit a landmark this week with the release of new single, Songbird – it not only launches her third EP, but also gives her the opportunity to announce a compilation of all three of her EP releases, essentially forming a hotly-anticipated debut album.
Selling out every copy of her 2021 EP, Fuel To The Flame, the raw, country-tinged song writing that leapt from teenage hurt and social media-borne, lockdown phenomena has blossomed further into deep soul-reaching, autobiographical amped-folk to indie-pop tales of heartbreak, resilience and hope. Moving to Liverpool to be near her band, recording with hit-makers, James Skelly, Rich Turvey and The Lathums’ talisman, John Kettle plus playing live in the company of peers and heroes, including Liam Fray and The Snuts, has all made for a whirlwind two years.
