Maverick burst on the scene 10 years ago with his seminal Gold-certified debut album Lonely Are The Brave which included the massive global singles ‘I Need’ and ‘Let Me Go’. Earlier this year Maverick took the decision to re-record the album in full and will release it independently on 30th November to mark its 10 year anniversary. The decision to reclaim and own his masters sees Maverick follow in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, Cat Stevens and more. Alongside the re-record, the album will feature 3 brand new demos (recorded 10 years ago) and 3 new acoustic versions – taking the project to 19 tracks.
Mav will be performing his debut in full in a UK+IRE tour this December including dates in London (2 sold out dates at KOKO on 8th Dec/15th Dec), Dublin, Manchester and more.
Some words from Mav below on the project –
“I’ve learned over the past 10 years that a musician’s career is an ever-growing tapestry. You never stop, it’s never just one picture or one painting and that’s it, you can tell a story over time that is never ending. I want to inspire the conversation amongst other artists to think about doing stuff like this, to not have a closed book on their released music, it can have another life and these can be artistic moves as well as business moves. There is no final chapter in music, if you have scope to add something to it or bring it back into your catalogue under your own ownership, under your own terms then artists should be inspired to do that. I would like this to be part of a story hopefully along the way that just ignites a conversation. There’s no boundaries on any of this.”
In his 10 years on the scene, Maverick has undergone a bold and inventive evolution as an artist, into a visionary and melodic songwriter capable of telling eternal stories that critique the world around him with a shrewd eye. Maverick has collaborated with the likes of Jorja Smith, Digga D, Joey Bada$$, Bugzy Malone, Chase & Status and George The Poet to name but a few – with a flair for working with the best artists, producers and tastemakers in the scene. Imbuing each of his timeless releases with perceptive social commentary, introspective lyricism and his signature emotive delivery; Maverick has been supported by the likes of The Guardian, CRACK, The Line of Best Fit, The Arts Desk, Complex, GQ, NPR and more.
