Pip Millett unveils new single ‘Walk Away’, the latest addition to her arsenal of soulful tracks lifted from her highly anticipated debut album When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know, out 21st October.

This uptempo offering sees the 24 year old Manchester artist bring her honey-like cadence and confessional lyricism to her latest track as she sings about breaking the habit of being the caregiver in relationships. Pip has never been one to shy away from sensitive topics, and ‘Walk Away’ is no different as she croons in the chorus “my love is not a favour / I’m doing way too much / that’s why I have to walk away” through her signature soulful vocals. With singles under belt that document her life lessons and relationships, ‘Walk Away’ demonstrates the singer-songwriter’s ability to draw from her experiences and create music that serves as an emotional outlet not only for herself, but her fans too with its relatability.

This new track follows on from the soulful ‘Heal’ and being named as BBC Radio 1 Future Artist of the Month for August. Her R&B-led single ‘Slow’ is currently Radio 1’s Vick & Jordan’s Tune of the Week and was highlighted as Sian Eleri’s Chillest Record on Radio 1, garnering further support from Apple Music, 1Xtra and Kiss. Like ‘Walk Away’, previously released tracks from the album, ‘Ride with Me’ and ‘Downright’ place Pip’s talent for combining the old with the new to produce a contemporary yet timeless sound at the forefront, her raw lyricism allowing listeners to witness all the paths that have led to the woman she is today. She tackles inequalities in socio-economic terrains, using her own experiences and relationships as the core influencers of the project. It’s this sense of lucidity that renders Millett as a renaissance vocalist, able to reflect on the current cultural landscape around her, having a point of view that translates both inside and outside of the studio.

With the eyes of both the industry and the UK firmly on her, Pip Millett continues to garner attention across the loudest of publications alongside major support across BBC R1, Xtra and 6Music – underlining the sense of an extremely special artist forging her own lane. On When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know she proves that blossoming authentically and true-to-form is a concoction that audiences are yearning for more of, defining herself as a thrillingly potent and compelling artist, able to balance mainstream appeal on BBC R1 with critical appreciation from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Benji B and Gilles Peterson. Once released, she’ll prove that all of her talents and industry-nods are only the beginnings of the next homegrown legacy act in the making.
