Dodie announces the Hot Mess EP, title track out today
02 September 2022
dodie today announces details of her new EP Hot Mess, due for release on September 30th. Following the release of the EP’s lead single ‘Got Weird’, she also shares the project’s title track - an intimate look into the chaos of life, through dodie’s eyes - complete with a sunny lyric video.
They explain: “Hot Mess is the result of the messiest, most intense, painful and exhilarating start to the year. It’s a wonky, dramatic but playful cycle - charging forward but around and around, again and again. There are flickers of real moments (I really did dry heave after reading a text) in an overall desperate plea to find a way out that in no way is going to come from me!”
The release of dodie’s new EP ‘Hot Mess’ follows her debut album Build A Problem, which debuted at number 3 in the Official UK Album Charts and unpacks the flawed, emotionally erratic, wondrously complex conundrum that is being alive. Late 2021 and early 2022 saw dodie tour the UK and North America, with two sold out theatre shows at the Ace Hotels in LA and a sold out Kings Theatre in New York, and the UK leg culminating with a triumphant show at London’s Eventim Apollo.
Further to releasing her debut album, at 27, dodie has already done a lot of living. Some of that has played out online as she made a name for herself as a singer and writer, amassing millions of fans with her disarmingly honest videos and affecting, intimate singing style. dodie has amassed over 1 billion streams to date, with 7 million followers across all platforms, she’s sold out over 100 consecutive shows globally, with performances on Late Night with Seth Myers and Sunday Brunch and has become an ambassador for Depersonalisation charity Unreal.
