The New York indie pop project Yoke Lore, the solo musical venture of Adrian Galvin, previously of Yellerkin and Walk the Moon, has released a brand new single titled “Shock Flesh” via Yellhouse Records.

The style of Adrian’s music as Yoke Lore combines his razor sharp indie pop songwriting with bright production that recalls the epic bombast of indie pop artists like Passion Pit with a dash of subtle psychedelia, all grounded by the signature instrument of Yoke Lore, the banjo. Yoke Lore layers the harmonies of Panda Bear, the modern soulful pop of M83, and the poetry of Local Natives to tell “the stories of how we are bound.”

Speaking to his inspirations behind this new Yoke Lore single, Adrian writes “'Shock Flesh’ is about the concept of learning about yourself through someone else. And how that process can be painful. But it really does take two to tango so to speak… You have to bounce yourself off other people, give away parts of yourself, take parts of other people. But it can be really painful. And sometimes I would rather sit alone by myself than be plugged into the world. And sometimes that’s okay but this song is a reminder for me that there is value and beauty in the trauma that comes with shedding skin.”
