London-based trio Dream Wife – vocalist Rakel Mjöll, guitarist Alice Go, bassist Bella Podpadec – announce the release of DW Megamix, a tribute to the live music space, IRL interaction and collaboration with other artists, bands and friends.

Dream Wife say: “Right now more than ever, connection exists in the non-physical. The down on the ground sense of community through live music is currently in exile from what is safe and responsible. Dream Wife have had the pleasure of sharing a space with some of our favourite bands, friends, and inspirations, over our time on the road. Those IRL happenings are the kind of connections that are forged through pure joy and togetherness in the physical, the visceral. It feels like an important time to re-align ourselves through a direct musical conversation with our peers. The DW Megamix is an ode to the support and friendship we have found and called home, in our live journey so far, for the love of music and all the moments to come. Here is to togetherness.”

The Megamix will be available as a digital download only from Friday May 7th, exclusively on Bandcamp, for one month only and features contributions from ARXX, Big Joannie, Body Type, Circe, Dream Wife, Franks, Shirley Manson, Ghum, Girli, Lucia & the Best Boys, Nova Twins, Our Girl, PINS, Porridge Radio, Sink Ya Teeth, Sleigh Bells, The Big Moon and Tokky Horror.

All proceeds from the download of the Megamix will go to Rainbow Mind, a mental health charity for LGBTQIA people. The band say that “This charity feels important for us to be supporting through these difficult and isolated times, where music for so many of us is a lifeline and point of connection. Via fragmented sonic moments over time and space, everyone coming together on and listening to the Megamix will be helping to support mental health, together through music.”

Dream Wife also recently announced their own headline tour for Spring 2022, and today are throwing down another open call gauntlet for musicians to claim the opening slot alongside main tour support, Lucia & the Best Boys, for all dates across the UK. Those selected in each city will be compensated accordingly. Artists and bands can apply and submit their music.

Dream Wife on the open call: “Wanna play a show with us?? We are super excited to announce an open call for local support bands/musicians to rock out with us in their hometown on our 2022 UK headline tour. All genres, genders and experience levels welcome - just be passionate and pumped to play! Woman, trans and non-binary folks to the front!”

The Megamix and the tour follows the release of their explosive second album So When You Gonna… last year, which earned both a monumental #18 UK Album Chart debut and a #1 placing in the Official Record Store Chart of Independent Retailers. The record was also the only album in the top 20 to be produced by an all womxn / non-male engineering team, as well as the only non-major label release, was subsequently named one of Rough Trade’s Top 10 Albums of 2020. The Marta Salogni (Bjork, M.I.A., Bon Iver) produced and mixed record dealt with topics such as miscarriage and gender equality.
