Irish alt-pop trio The Script have been confirmed for next year’s Eden Sessions at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

It was announced last week that the Eden Sessions series planned for this year (2020) would not take place due to the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic but would be rescheduled for next year.

The Script had been due to play in front of the Eden Biomes on July 15, 2020.

Now they are the first to be confirmed for next year and will perform at Eden on July 14, 2021.

Eden is contacting all existing ticket purchasers with details. Original tickets remain valid for The Script and any other show that is rescheduled.

Rita Broe, managing director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to announce The Script for the Eden Sessions 2021. We look forward to welcoming the band almost exactly a year on from the day they would have played for what we’re sure will be a massive highlight of the Sessions season.”

The band are riding high after their sixth studio album Sunsets & Full Moons reached number one in the charts last November.

Having returned with the emotive first single The Last Time, Sunsets & Full Moons is the sound of The Script, namely Danny O’Donoghue (vocals, piano, guitar), Mark Sheehan (vocals, guitars) and drummer Glen Power.

The album focusses on the inclusive, uplifting songwriting that helped The Script become an arena-filling band with a fervent fan base the world over.

Danny O’Donoghue, who is also well known as a coach on the first two series of The Voice UK, rates the album the most poignant they have made.

He said: “Our music was always about being together with the audience, and writing about your own feelings, and sharing them.”

The band embrace the unifying power of the simple things - killer hooks, insistent melodies and stirring sentiments.

Last year’s epic Eden Sessions line-up saw Stereophonics, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Liam Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers and Kylie Minogue (two nights) play the Eden stage. Also, to mark the 100th Session, Nile Rodgers and Doves led a galaxy of stars at a special anniversary concert.

In September (2019) The Eden Project and global live events company AEG Presents announced a new partnership, Eden Sessions Ltd, to run the Eden Sessions.
