Spring 2019 at the Usher Hall holds in store come incredible rock and pop music, including James, Nils Frahm and Colours Classical at Scotland’s only 5-star concert hall.
Known far and wide as singer/guitarist of The Gaslight Anthem, as well as such outfits as The Horrible Crowes and Molly & The Zombies, Brian Fallon made his solo debut with 2015’s masterful PAINKILLERS. He visits the Usher Hall on 6 February with his new show, Songs from the Hymnal.
Bedford rockers Don Broco have announced a major UK tour for 2019 calling at the Usher Hall on 7th February 2019. They will be joined by fellow rabble-rousers Neck Deep and Issues.
On the other end of the musical spectrum is pop idol Peter Andre. This tour sees Peter encompass his musical journey through the years, performing his best loved hits from his early years to his most recent tracks that have reignited the hearts of the nation. Peter says “This tour has been a long time in the making and I can’t wait to get back out on stage in front of the fans in Edinburgh that have supported me over the last 25 years”.
On Tuesday 19 February the Hall welcomes German composer/producer/musician Nils Frahm. His unconventional approach to the age-old instrument of the piano, played contemplatively and intimately, and on a mesmerising scale through his vast stage shows, has won him many fans around the world. Nils has gained global notoriety for his highly developed sense of control and restraint in his work, as well as a breath-taking level of emotion and personality.
Mike & The Mechanics, who have sold over ten million records worldwide – announce their 2019 nationwide ‘Looking Back Over My Shoulder Tour’ stopping off in Edinburgh on 28 February. Following on from their recent sold-out tour in the US, the tour will include tracks from their highly acclaimed latest album ‘Let Me Fly’. Also included will be their massive 80s hit single ‘The Living Years’ which became a No. 1 hit in the US. The single then went onto become a global success.
Manchester icons James come on 18 March to the Usher Hall as part of their “LIVING IN EXTRAORDINARY TIMES” UK Tour. The band will be performing their well-loved classic hits alongside new material from their most recent Top 10 album ‘Living in Extraordinary Times’. In typical non-conventional James style, the band will be ‘supporting themselves’ in a special 30-minute acoustic set before their famed storming electric main show.
On 24 March, renowned folk singer-songwriter Roy Harper will come to the Usher Hall as part of a major UK tour celebrating 50 years of classic tracks. The shows will include Harper’s famed epic ‘McGoohan’s Blues’ from his 1968 album Folkjokeopus. Roy Harper is one of the very few surviving singer-songwriters from the counterculture of the 60’s who is still creatively engaged in new composition and in progressing a body of work that has come to stand for a particularly single-minded form of integrity.
Former lead singer of iconic British band The Verve, Richard Ashcroft has enjoyed widespread success in his own right, having achieved three Top 3 solo albums in the UK. Ashcroft released his most recent album, Natural Rebel, in October of 2018 and will perform music from it and his back catalogue at the Hall on 23 April.
The Usher Hall also has a fantastic reputation as the place in Edinburgh to catch the finest tribute bands around. Spring 2019 is no exception, with some of the best touring musicians around coming to play some of the greatest hits ever made to the Edinburgh audience. Those lined up include Ultimate Eagles, What’s Love got to do with It? A Tribute to Tina Turner, the Bowie Experience, Led Zeppelin Masters and Rumours of Fleetwood Mac.
There really is something for all musical tastes this Spring at Scotland’s only 5-star concert hall!
