Valletta – Friday 3 October 2014

Three former Maltese Eurovision Ambassadors, Ludwig Galea (Istanbul, 2004), Glen Vella (Dusseldorf, 2011) and Gianluca Bezzina (Malmo, 2013), are among the 20 semi-finalists out of the 48 short-listed entries. The list also includes four new comers – Karen Debattista, Iona Dalli, Minik and Lyndsay Pace, and the nuns forming the ensemble Ekklesia.

The 20 acts shall perform on the MESC stage on Friday 21st November 2014. Only 14 entries shall qualify to the grand-final on Saturday, with the hope to earn the pass to make it to the big stage next May in Vienna.

The festival, which will be characterized by the presence of three preeminent performers as well as the new faces, is expected to be very competitive, entertaining and spectacular at the same time, not only because of the acts themselves, but also due to the amazing set up of the stage that will have a large 9 metre high 10 mm LED video wall surface, a 28 metre wide stage and 508 square metres of LED screens.

The full list of semi-finalists was announced tonight live during Malta’s favourite Friday night TV show, Xarabank. Every artist that made it to the semi-final was given the opportunity to sing a few seconds of his song during the TV show.
