A technical glitch saw Thea Garrett disappear in a cloud of smoke during her first rehearsals in Oslo on Monday morning.
A smoke machine went into overdrive while Thea went through her first rehearsals at the Telenor Arena, surrounding the 18-year-old singer in smoke, forcing her to use her arms to flap the smoke away. Unfortunately, it was the dancer, Jesmond Sciberras, who was dressed up as a bird and not Thea, who could have made good use of the wings, esctoday.com notes.

The smoke also affected the backing singers early in the rehearsals, forcing them to stop singing and cough.

However, the problem was soon fixed, with Thea reported to have taken the incident in good faith – “laughing and performing another run-through impeccably” according to esctoday.com, who also said that the singer showed a maturity and professionalism beyond her 18 years.

Meanwhile, addressing the press following her first rehearsal at the Telenor Arena, Thea Garrett commented that she was destined for Eurovision. Smiling she remarked that she was born on the night Mary Spiteri was declared the winner of the Malta Song Festival in 1992 with the song “Little Child”.

Thea Garrett looked confident and spoke about her personal dream, that of singing.

Her next rehearsal will be on Thursday.

Thea will sing her song, "My Dream", in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on Tuesday, May 25.
