Valletta Dramatic Company continues with its 35th anniversary celebrations and will be staging Carlo Lombardi’s operetta with music by Mario Costa, 'Scugnizza'.
'Scugnizza' is one of the most popular operettas and considered to be the most Italian of all.

The melody and entertaining dialogue create the atmosphere of the streets of Naples with ‘Salome’, ‘Una rondine non fa primavera’, ‘Napoletana come canti tu’ and ‘In riva al mare tutta Bianca una casetta’.

The story revolves around Salome, who despite the miseries of life never seems to lose her smile.

'Scugnizza' will be performed at the Manoel Theatre on Saturday and Sunday March 27 and 28 at 1930h with an extra show on Sunday, March 28, at 1500h.

The cast includes Ludwig Galea, Ruth Sammut Casingena, Laura Bruno, George Micallef, Mario Micallef, Pat Mahoney, and the ‘Scugnizzi’ choir as well as dancers with choreography by Lucienne Camilleri.

The artistic direction is of Arcibald Mizzi while Joe Izzo is responsible from the artistic direction of the show.
