In light of the fact that recently Gozo has had the privilege of being host to several outstanding events which marks this year's calendar prominently, OldSkool Promotions along with the collaboration of Dynamic Promotions have teamed up in order to be able to make a mark on 2009's list of memorable events. Andrea Prezioso along with his fellow friend and Mc Marvin will be performing at Rabat Gozo's D-Code Club on October 17 during an 80's & 90's themed party.
Born in Rome on October 31, 1967, Andrea Prezioso’s passion for music started back in the 70's. He accredits this love for music to Zio Umberto, a former radio and club deejay based in Rome. Along with his brother Giorgio (also an acclaimed deejay), he recalled spending whole evenings in order to try and mimic Zio Umberto's mixing techniques, observing him as he worked making use of his vast musical knowledge, which ranged from disco music, modern rock, right down to early electronica.
At the age of 11 he admits to being caught by the lights and magic of the discotheque, John Travolta's ‘The Saturday Night Fever’ proved to be a great inspiration for Andrea, he describes it as being the first movie to actually recognize a deejay's main role in the disco world, by means of entertaining with their unique abilities.
Also an avid record listener, amongst the first records Andrea bought and carefully listened to were Tavare's ‘Sky High’ and Chic's ‘Good times’. At age 14, together with Giorgio, they first stepped into Rome's top club at the time, The Much More. There they eventually found out what true musical sensations were all about with the aid of DJ Faber Cucchetti.
During the high-school years he basically just deejayed for birthday parties and such until a friend of his introduced him to Radio RAM102 where he started to create “mixtapes”. There he also met Lorenzo (Jovanotti) who seemed to appreciate his work and proposed to Andrea to join him at Rome's "Veleno" booth.
They played early Hip-Hop (Run DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys), early House Music (Marshall Jefferson, Todd Terry, Adonis, Raze) and also pop music (Rick Astley, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Duran Duran). Andrea admits that it was thanks to this experience that he eventually learned how fundamental the deejay's role was in getting people entertained.
During this time he also travelled London with Giorgio for the first time to the DMC finals. He later worked at Riccione's "Acquafan" for a couple of years, at the Rome's "Hysteria", "Linea" in Milan, and also the "Hippodrome" in Corfu.
At the end of the 80s it was all about rave parties and Detroit-techno (Juan Atkins, Rhythm is Rhythm, Inner City) DJ Frankie Bones' Freestyle, Tommy Musto, R&S Techno, and “The Heaven Club” in London with its Techno "RAGE" nights. While in London Andrea got in touch with a brand new musical reality of obsessive rhythms and sounds which he further added to his repertoire. Next he was deejaying in early Italian raves.
In 1991 he started to produce records: his first one was entitled “Dukkha”, it allowed him to participate in Switzerland's raves, and eventually reach audiences in Belgium and Holland. Later it was "Tetris" with DJ Eugenio Passalaqua, which ascended to fame. After a couple of years Andrea and Giorgio decided to start producing music together. Their first single's been "Get On Up" followed by the "Corporation Of Three" project which included 2 different mixes. By that time they badly needed a musician to complete their group - Alessandro Moschini entered the picture. He understood Andrea and shared most of his musical likes and dislikes. After a few try-outs, Giorgio Marvin and Andrea finally produced "Tell Me Why". And since then none of them has turned back.
In Order to make this event an even more unique one, Marvin will also be part of the gig.
