In a very close final Petra Zammit won the first edition of the Academy Show on One TV with 54 points. Thea Falzon Garrett and Rhiannon Micallef were runners up with 52 points each.

The final 7 singers had to sing 2 songs each, one in Maltese and another favourite song in English.

The finalists were judged by Iulian Ilie (music journalist from Romania), Nick Sinckler (singer, composer, songwriter from New York) and Joshua Alamu (vocal teacher from London).

In a comment Nick Sinckler said “it is amazing how good the local talents are. It was a pleasure for me to come to Malta to sing and work with them.”

As the winner Petra will now go to Munich, Germany to record a song.

Nick Sinckler also offered Petra to write her a song.

After the show Petra said she is happy because she never won anything in her musical carrier and that she will dedicate the song to her son.

Grace Borg, executive producer of the show said she was very satisfied with the singers’ performances, adding that she will work hard to secure the financial aid they need.
