Liverpool DJ and Producer Dash O'Brien has been making a name for himself ever since he burst onto the scene after representing the UK in a global DJ contest back in 2005, we caught up with him after his Strongbow Room set at this summer's V Festival in Stafford

So Dash you have just opened the Saturday Strongbow rooms session at V Festival, how does that feel?
Excellent, I really enjoyed the gig, because it was a day in to the festival, everyone was in high spirits and looking forward to the headline acts and a day of fun. It wasn’t hard to play a few 'crowd pleasers' and have the whole bar rocking within the first hour.

Is this the first time you have played a major music festival?
No, I’ve done a few now. Including the Strongbow rooms once before at V a few years back... I really love dj’ing at festivals and in particular for the Strongbow Rooms, the bar is so well done, a really great place to come hang out and listen to some interesting Live acts & DJ's. The people who put it together are great too, lots of props to the rpm/our kid brother team

Did you manage to sneak any of your own productions or remixes into your set?
Yes, I ended up playing quite a few things I’ve done, including a few bootlegs of some famous rap tracks that I’ve done which always go down well. I also played my remix of Cassius 'Sound of Violence' and was really pleased with how that went down

With your buddy General Jimmy also on the line-up as well as The Coral performing on the main stage it was good to see a strong Scouse representation at V.
Yeah really good. It was like our own little party what with Jimmy, Mr Paul and Dead Audio. Jimmy smashed it both times he played so it was really good being in the crowd and feeling that atmosphere when he was on.

Just a couple of quickies to finish:

What can we expect from Dash for the rest of 2010?
More remixes, more of my own tracks, more mixes, more Superfly & Chibuku dates... and hopefully a few more festival/ibiza gigs - check out my Facebook 'artist' or 'mix' page to keep updated.
