Chris Martin is reportedly still "totally besotted" with Gwyneth Paltrow.
The estranged couple announced they were parting ways in March after ten years of marriage, labelling their split a "conscious uncoupling" on a blog post on Gwyneth's lifestyle website Goop.
However the pair have remained close, co-raising their two children Apple and Moses. Last month Chris, 37, was spotted at Gwyneth's Goop pop-up store event in Dallas, and reports suggest they'll spend what would have been their 11th wedding anniversary together on December 5.
"Chris is totally besotted with Gwyneth, and that has never changed. She instigated the split, but never definitively told him that they would not be together again, just that they needed to try living more separate lives and see what happened," a source divulged to British magazine Grazia.
"The whole 'conscious uncoupling' thing felt like a halfway house between being married and splitting completely and , ironically, it's since they've been technically living apart that they've come to realise how closely they depend on each other."
Since the pair formally parted, they have both been linked romantically to other people. Chris is said to have dated Hollywood starlet Jennifer Lawrence, while Gwyneth was linked to Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk.
However, a source close to the two A-listers divulged Gwyneth, 42, has never been opposed to a reconciliation.
"Gwyneth has been playing the long game. For a while things on their marriage weren't great, but by 'consciously uncoupling' - rather than splitting - Gwyneth ensured that they would remain part of each other's lives. The door has always been left open for them to get back together," the second insider revealed.
