Sammy Wilk brings us another chill track with his newest single “Turn the Lights Down.” The intro consists of an upbeat acoustic guitar riff that fades and abruptly leads into a heavy baseline and robust vocals. Although the transition sounds jarring, the return of the guitar riff and hand drums supplies a reggae undercurrent which seamlessly welds the two styles.
Sammy sings about finding love with a determined front-row fangirl. He agonizes about the possibility that his genuine feelings are one-sided, but when he spends time with her, emotions take control and push his overanalyzing thoughts away. While not everyone is a celebrity, we can relate to Sammy’s honest dilemma.
