Inner City Kicks EP is the latest offering from punk/pop monkeys Model Society. The first track ‘Systematic’ gets the EP off to a great rousing start, with a catchy chorus and a great hook I am singing along and jumping up and down within minutes. It reminds of Blur in places but with a Punkier edge.

Next up is ‘Horizons’ which starts with Joy Division style keyboard riff and continues in a similar poppy/punk style with sing-a-long lyrics and catchy guitars.

It’s only Rock n Roll but I like it, and the next track Rock and Roll Suicide is my personal live favourite. It doesn’t quite have the drive as the live version but still a great track to listen to while driving as long as there aren’t any speed cameras around.

The pace slows down a little for the last track on the EP: ‘Charlie was a dreamer’. This shows a slightly more grown-up side to the boys songwriting and is more complex than most of their material. It’s a great song and definitely a grower.

The inner city kicks album is a lot of fun and if you like post punk you should defiantly add this to your collection.
