Nashville-based and three parts South African, Civil Twilight announce their new album "Holy Weather" with the release of the first single "Fire Escape".
Listening to the album, Civil Twilight have managed to seamlessly combine the rasping guitars of 90s bands like Smashing Pumpkins with warblings akin to Florence + the Machine on a single album. Lead singer Steven McKeller somehow manages to rival the vocal range of Radiohead's Tom Yorke or Muse' Matt Bellamy shifting effortlessly between soothing falsetto and powerful crescendos. These velvet-like vocals can be heard all over the first single which provides something a little different - more upbeat and Kasabian-like - that you won't see on the rest of the album.
Mysterious, beautiful and melodic, this is music that promotes pondering and navel gazing so it's no surprise that teen angst programmes like One Tree Hill and The Vampire Dairies have borrowed the sounds. Don’t be put off by this though! Stand out tracks "It’s Over" and "Please Don’t Find Me" show a more complex side reminiscent of Radiohead and MGMT. If you fancy something less sugary, then this is for you with its thoughtful and moody feel.
