To celebrate the 100th release on Southern Fried Records, label owner Norman Cook in his Mighty Dub Katz guise and Brighton’s Cagedbaby put together a CD each to help tell the story so far.
Southern fried have released some of the best party house over the past 13 years and this compilation (45 tracks between the two discs) is a good representation of the back catalogue to date.
With a relatively slow output through the nineties, the label really came into it’s own following release #18 in 2000, Scanty Sandwich 'Because of You’. From then the discography has included such gems as Armand Van Helden’s 'My, My, My’, Chamonix ’77 Strings’ and Andrea Doria’s 'Bucci Bag’ which all appear in their original form here.
CD1 is mixed by Norm in his own unique fashion with swift mixing and plenty of samples thrown into the pot, while CD2 from Cagedbaby uses the breaks and electro mixes from the label (including many of his own) to put together a more up to date twist on things
Surprising though, that neither disc contains the 100th release 'Guarguanco’ from the Mighty Dub Katz
