Foals

There is something captivating about the sound of Foals. The guitars and drums are strictly linked rhythmically, the vocals dart in and out seemingly at will and the whole is a combination of Reichian minimalism with the utter danceability of Spandau Ballet. Yannis vocals come out of the mix with an anguished but passionless quality, Walter’s bass is liquid and the keyboards from Edwin & Jimmy are pure poppy cross-harmonising. Even though I can spot a dozen other bands whose sound has given to Foals overall sound they still sound like Foals. This could be one of the sounds of this summer.
