Luke Reyvn is a force to be reckoned with. After releasing a steady stream of pop hits over the past year, including the bittersweet rock “Another Day” and the Lil XXEL collaboration “White Lies,” Reyvn has returned with his strongest effort to date, the deliciously raw and upbeat “Money Pies.”

Described by Reyvn as a “fast-paced party and dance song about striving for financial success and freedom,” “Money Pies” finds Reyvn throwing caution to the wind and zeroing on life’s more nefarious pursuits. But as he tells Music-News below, the song is more of a metaphor inspired by his experience over the past few months of finding personal success and creative satisfaction.

Read on below for our interview, and be sure to keep your eye on Luke in the coming months. This is an artist that you’re going to want to follow.

Luke, you’ve exploded onto the scene over the past few years. What has the experience of moving from Hawaii to LA to pursue your dreams been like?

The experience has honestly been insane. The culture shock was probably the hardest thing for me to get through. However this is something I’ve been dreaming about my whole life and once I had put in the work to get here there was honestly nothing that was gonna stop me.

Tell us about how you got your start. When did you first know you wanted to be a musician?

It started when I was younger and got into musical theater. During high school I played in punk bands and sang in my school’s chorus. The end goal for me has always been to be entertainer. I started making original music during my first year of college because I didn’t like going to class so making music seemed like a good way to fill the time. However during that period of time I started to really fall in love with producing and writing songs. So when I dropped out of college later that year I naturally wanted to keep learning and pursuing that passion, but it wasn’t till I finally released my first single and saw how my music was impacting my listeners that I knew I wanted to do this the rest of my life.

You’ve been outspoken about your struggles with drugs and alcohol and your goal of serving as a role model to other youth. Why do you think it’s so important to be honest about your own struggles?

In my opinion I think that humans tend to draw strength from each other. So by using music as the way to reach and communicate with more people your able to actually make a positive impact. I think it’s so important to be real with what you write and deliver to the works because you never know who that one song or just one lyric might help someone who has or is struggling with something similar that you have.

Tell us about your new single “Money Pies.” Where did the inspiration for the song come from?

“Money Pies” is a reflection of my personal growth and just where I’m at with life. Like I’ve said before the music you make should represent how you’re feeling when you make it. I’ve worked really hard to overcome a lot of my personal issues and to make a career out of something I love doing so I really wanted to make a song that had that feeling of pride and love for this life I’ve created for myself.

Given your story, we imagine this single is a bit tongue-in-cheek. What message should fans take away from this song?

This song in many ways is a lot more metaphoric than if you were to take the lyrics for face value. I wanted to express that for the first time in my life I don’t feel like a failure or disappointment. I chose lyrics that are very symbolic of typical success however the message behind them is just pure fun and happiness which I hadn’t felt in a long time.

What are your plans for the coming year? Are any live tour dates in the works? Are there any artists that you would like to collaborate?

I want to assure my fans that I will be consistently dropping amazing singles and music videos leading up to my debut album coming in 2023. As far as shows and collaborations I don’t want to say too much. However I will say we have a lot of big things in the works so everyone’s just gonna have to wait and see!
