The Radio Academy today reveals the nominees in the 25 categories that will be recognised and announce that KISS presenters Jordan Banjo and Perri will host the ARIAS 2021 on Wednesday 26th May.
Celebrating the best in audio and radio, there are 25 awards to be won in categories such as Best New Presenter, Best Music Breakfast Show, Best Fictional Storytelling and Best Sports Show – and this year will see the introduction of several new categories: The Creative Innovation Award, The Impact Award and The 2020 Special Award, recognising content produced to support audiences in lockdown. The BBC have seen a strong level of nominations across the board, ranging from The YUNGBLUD Podcast being nominated for Best New Show to BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5 Live all being nominated for National Station or Network Of The Year.
Elsewhere, Bauer have been nominated across several categories including 9 nominations for Absolute Radio, as well as ARIAS hosts Jordan and Perri whose KISS Breakfast show has been nominated for Best New Show.
Independent stations such as NTS and National Prison Radio have also been recognised, as well as podcasts including George the Poet – Have You Heard George’s Podcast?, The High Performance Podcast and The Bellingcat Podcast.
For the first time since its inception, the ARIAS will be available to stream live. Although the setup of this year’s edition is slightly different, a necessary change due to current government guidelines, the ARIAS is still set to be the defining moment of recognition and celebration for those in the radio industry.
Nominees are able to take part in the event live, and all winners are able to give their acceptance speeches from the cosy confides of their homes.
