Ashton Irwin has released his new song, ‘Have U Found What Ur Looking For’.

The 5 Seconds of Summer star has followed up his debut solo single, ‘Skinny Skinny’, with the next track from his upcoming album, ‘Superbloom’, which is released on October 23.

Ashton revealed his latest track is about being in a “fog of depression’, despite its hooky and uplifting chorus.
He said: “We wrote the song in an hour and it inspired my mission statement for my whole year.

“We were like, ‘Oh my God, we could actually make a record in quarantine.’

It made us chase it down like a pack of wolves. With its mix of heavy guitars, dreamy soundscapes, indelible hook and lyrics about finding your way out of the abyss, it set a template for the record both sonically and thematically. It has a positive uplifting tone but it’s also about being in a fog of depression.”

'Skinny Skinny' details his 16-year-old brother's battle with body dysmorphia.

Ashton said: “He’s already caught up in his own mental image of what his body should look like.

“I thought that was such a crippling trap for a young man to try and walk through.

“I needed to write a song that captured the pain of body dysmorphia. I have been through stages in my life where I’ve been sickened by that state of mind.

“The over-arching narrative is support system, healing, recovery, strength and focus on true self. I felt like I had a lot to write about.”

The 26-year-old musician shot to fame alongside his bandmates Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Luke Hemmings in the pop rock group, 5SOS.

The band’s last album was March’s ‘C A L M’.
