Americana stars The Lumineers today premiered film ‘The Ballad Of Cleopatra’, a full length album visual, which is based on the story of ‘Cleopatra’, a real-life inspirational female taxi driver, who missed out on marrying her true love when she declined a proposal around the time of her fathers death. Wes and his wife came to know her through a friend and she became according to Wesley - “the bedrock of the album.” The film will be available to watch exclusively via a Vevo watch party at 8pm (BST) where fans will watch the video and will be joined by Wesley and film director Isaac Ravishankara, who will chat to fans as the film plays. An exclusive link to the Vevo Watch party will be posted on The Lumineers’ social media at 8pm.

The album visual, directed by Isaac Ravishankara (Ellie Goulding, Hosier, Phantogram) depicts Cleopatra’s life story in one continuous narrative. The new film seamlessly interweaves previously released videos ‘Ophelia’, ‘Cleopatra’ (with Cleopatra driving a cab), ‘Sleep On The Floor’ (on a road trip adventure), ‘Angela’ (pregnant and making a life-changing decision), complete with cameos from the band and new interlinking sections connecting each video.

The film also introduces a video for album track ‘My Eyes’, which sees ‘Cleopatra’ as an elderly woman in a care home. The video series has had over 199 Million views combined and has been described thought-provoking and heartfelt*.

The film is a celebration of The Lumineers’ seminal second studio album ‘Cleopatra’, which was produced by Simone Felice. The album peaked at No. 1 on both the US Billboard 200 and UK album chart when released last year and has won praise from fans and critics alike. Drowned In Sound described the album as “one of the finest follow-up records for quite some time.” The Lumineers continue The Cleopatra World Tour, which has included two sold-out performances at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and continues with a performance in South Africa tomorrow night. They will return to the UK and Europe this summer with an appearance at BST's Hyde Park (With Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty) and then back to the US to play 13 stadium shows with U2.
