London based five piece, Hoodlums are set to drop their debut E.P., Virtue, in 2013 as well as taking their unique sound on the road on a national tour in June and July, including their biggest headline show to date at the famous London venue, The 100 Club.
The EP demonstrates the band’s mutual love of groups like The Cure, Prince and Suede, showcasing a strong mix of art rock aesthetics, and the big, emotive riffs of classic rock acts. Perfect for fans of The Maccabees and Arcade Fire.
‘Summertime Euthanasia’ is a driving slice of pop rock, which features Lou channeling both the wistful melancholia of Robert Smith and the attitude of Prince. ‘The Great Outsiders’ mixes in the post-rock flavours of bands like Talk Talk and Cocteau Twins to create an evocative ballad that avoids the usual clichés. Finally, lead track ‘Anything Goes’ highlights the bands strengths. Powerful, melodic and with a soaring chorus, it’s a song set to light up stadiums as well as indie dance floors.
‘Virtue’ will be released via Blow The Whistle Recordings on July 15th
