Morrissey has just announced that he will not do the Kimmel show tonight not because of illness, but because he takes exception to another guest.
The following was posted to Facebook:
Morrissey is thankful for being invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow, February 26. However, he cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty [a reality television series on A&E, charting the lives of the Robertson family, who became wealthy from their family-operated business, making products for duck hunters] will also be guests. Morrissey would be honoured to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed.
But on a happier note Morrissey will now resume his US tour.
After a month of postponed and cancelled shows while he recuperated from a number of ailments, Morrissey has announced that he will be playing Jimmy Kimmel's show on February 26 followed by a tour that now totals 27 cities. Included is another attempt to play Flint, MI, a date he has had to postpone twice before due to illness.
His official announcement:
Morrissey will resume his North American tour with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday, February 26 followed by a 27-city tour with newly added cities. The additional shows include the legendary Hollywood High School, Richmond, VA, Philadelphia, PA and as promised Morrissey will return to Flint, MI. The tour includes a sold-out date at the Staples Center with special guests Patti Smith and her band as well as a special performance at Hollywood High School Auditorium.
Due to venue availability, the engagement at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco is unable to be rescheduled. Instead, Morrissey will be playing famed venue, Warfield Theater. Tickets for Hollywood High School will go on sale Tuesday, February 26 while Flint, MI, Indianapolis, IN, Philadelphia, PA, Richmond, VA, and San Francisco, CA (Warfield Theater) will go on sale Friday, March 1. All tickets previously purchased will be honored at rescheduled dates, except Flint and San Francisco (Warfield Theater) where new tickets will need to be purchased.
