The Public Broadcasting Services has carefully selected the Friday evening prime-time slot for the announcement of the twenty four semi-finalists who will be competing with the hope of representing the country in the next Eurovision Song Contest which will be taking place in Sweden after a major victory recorded by Loreen and her entry Euphoria. For the first time in years, the national broadcaster received a substantial amount of entries, a record by standard since it took over full proceedings of the competition. Xarabank which is set to commence right after the news bulletin will be mainly focusing on the Malta Eurovision Song Contest although another current affairs issue will be tackled every now and then in order to anticipate the excitement amongst the performers and their guests, most of which will be songwriters.
The picture above is excitingly interesting because it features all of the names and surnames of songwriters, and artists alike who were revealed to be in the second name of the competition. This is a jumbled up image depicting everyone and thought it would be appropriate for this evenings' announcement. The editorial board of escflashmalta.com will be covering the programme live as it unravels. The quality of the entries is set to be of higher standard this time round considering the qualification of the country in the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year with Kurt Calleja doing the nation proud as he performed This Is The Night. There is a mixture with most of the entries being either by local songwriter or by a mixture of foreign and local songwriters although some completely foreign teams were also present in the second phase list announced a couple of weeks back.
The dates for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2013 has been confirmed as the 1st and the 2nd February 2013 with the Malta Music Awards taking place on the 3rd February 2013. For the third consecutive year; Vodafone, Hebe, ROCS Group and Mediterranean Bank are the main sponsors of this years' competition and the first surprise is an announcement that the winner will get to go to Dubai within the United Arab Emirates. The value of this gift is that of €15,000 which would be added to the €7500 amount set to be given by the Public Broadcasting Services.
