The 4 track EP which Matt has performed to fans around the UK includes the tracks ‘Spare Me Love’, ‘Sunlight’, ‘Good for Me’ and ‘Icarus’. Matt will also be embarking on a UK tour where he will be playing intimate venues as well as festivals.
Whilst Matt plays to flawless reviews and impressive feedback, social network has also played a large part regarding his introduction to the music industry. Word quickly began to spread around the release of the free download with fans across the world sharing the information and links with their twitter followers from Radio Milan to Asia, Germany to Australia where the press requests have been coming in thick and fast.
Matt, a former Chorister who performed daily for 6 years at Truro Cathedral, is no stranger to the long hours and dedication the music industry requires – he thrives on it. Currently working with the likes of Matt Foster (KT Tunstall, Jack Penate) and David Austin (George Michael) Matt is without a doubt set for big things this year.
In a saturated decade of mass produced music with a short shelf live, Matt Woods is indeed one of those rare artists who is in the industry for longevity. Drawing influence from Ray LaMontagne and Mumford and Sons to name but a few Matt is adamant he will not cave in to the pressures of conforming to what people think he should do. As Matt comments:
“I am happy to be making music that I believe in. The current artists that I love have paved a way for producing music which retains honesty, and a true sense of emotion. This feels real to me. This is what I hope to emulate.’’
His track ‘Spare Me Love’ demonstrates his outlook on life and the impact his European tour had on him whilst his stunning track ‘Icarus’ depicts Greek Mythology and the influence his parents have had on his life – much of which is covered within the 4 track EP.
Watch this space closely – acoustic soul is about to get a whole lot louder!
