Graham Coxon goes "weeks without food or sleep" when recording.

The Blur guitarist becomes so focused on the creative process he forgets to look after himself, but revealed troubled rocker Pete Doherty helped keep him healthy when they worked together.

Graham - who collaborated with the Babyshambles rocker on Pete's debut solo album 'Grace/Wastelands' - said: "I can stay in the studio for weeks without food or sleep, which isn't healthy but working with Pete and Stephen Street, the producer, I found structure to my day.

"Stephen always kept the studio the same so when Pete came in there were no surprises. It was pretty organised."

Despite Pete's much-publicised drug problems, Graham - who has previously battled alcohol addiction - insists his friend has cleaned up his act and vows the best is yet to come from the 30-year-old star.

Graham added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I think Pete is coming out of his darkest times now, but you never know. I thought I'd got my problems sorted when I stopped drinking. I felt brilliant and was so healthy but I wasn't right still.

"Pete's massively romantic and hugely talented. He's got a lot to offer, not just musically, but he's good to be around as he's funny.

"I'm glad he's showed some people what he's made of. And he's still got more in him. I think he's only just started."
