A number of bands have been getting involved over the past month or so in Channel 4’s initiative to map the whole of the UK’s public art using mobile phone photos. Athlete, SixNationState, Parka, Cage the Elephant and Little Dragon have all been joining with the ranks of the Big Art Mob
Athlete took a slightly off the wall approach and documented their recent tour of Japan, including shots of some graffiti of dogs in Japan (?!). SixNationState kept it a bit more home-grown with some cracking graffiti from hometown Southampton, as well as stuff spotted on their recent tour of Berlin. Parka went back to their roots in Glasgow, while Little Dragon found some Public Art entitled a Godigt!
What’s it all about you ask? Well simple ….ahead of the broadcast of the Big Art Project on Channel 4 this summer, the Big Art Mob is collecting images of all the UK’s public art. Using Moblog (mobile blogging) technology these pictures can be sent in directly from a mobile by text (MMS), appearing immediately on the site. But this isn’t just reserved for these Rock Star types – we’d love YOU, YOU and YOU to get snapping and talking!!
Simply text your pictures to: 07786 200 549. More than just making people coo at lovely pieces of art, Big Art Mob also shows exactly where they are to be found on the Big Art Map… Check it out at:
