Michael Jackson will attend this week's Grammy Awards but will not perform, according to reports.

The self-styled 'King of Pop' has been linked with a rare live appearance at the star-studded annual ceremony for some weeks.

With the imminent release of the 25th anniversary edition of "Thriller", it was claimed he would give a shock performance at the Los Angeles event on Sunday night.

However, the New York Post has revealed that although Jackson will be there, he has no intention of playing. A 'source' explained: "Michael can't go along with that.

"He needs more time to rehearse new versions of the songs. And everything requires new choreography."

"Thriller", the 25th anniversary edition, which features new collaborations with Kanye West, Fergie and Akon, is out on Monday.
